National Information Society Agency (NIA) finalized relocation and settled in Daegu and Jeju ending 28 years of Seoul era after its foundation in 1987.

NIA is one and only government organization moving to two separate locations: Daegu and Jeju. One in Daegu Innovation City (Sinseo-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu, Korea) will be the headquarter, and Jeju building (Seoho-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, Korea) will be mainly used for the global e-government educational programs, global e-government training, and information utilization education and training program for expansion of social inclusion.

About 400 researchers will be working in the new building in Daegu. The 12-story building, including a basement parking area, is constructed on 4.6 acres of land. The 4-story Jeju building is built on about 1.2 acres of land, and holds about 30 researchers.

With the relocation, NIA reshuffled its organization under the vision of “World Best ICT Specialized Agency.”

Carefully considering the similarities and differences in the line of works, it is now settled with one Office and Six Departments with sub division of ‘teams.’

NIA President Byung-jo Suh emphasized that the relocation would be the springboard to new era in NIA’s development.
