Keynote Speech by NCAs President at ASOCIO 2000

Park Sung-Deuk, President of the National Computerization Agency(NCA),
delivered a keynote speech at the Openning Ceremony of the 18th
ASOCIO(Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization) General Assembly and
Symposium(ASOCIO 2000) held in COEX, Seoul Korea on December 4, 2000.

From his speech, Mr. Park indicated that information technology is changing
economic and social paradigms rapidly as one of the most important factors for
future global growth and the ASOCIO member countries are now facing the needs
to be more proactive in dealing with the new technological and economic trends.
He said, I'm sure that it will provide all the ASOCIO member countries with a
golden opportunity to exchange information, opinions, ideas and precious
experience in the field of IT business in general.

President Park Sung-Deuk also expressed partnership among the member countries
in promoting computerization and representing the region's interest to the
world IT community, reminding that ASOCIO situated in the center of these
revolutionary changes has played an important role since its foundation in
1984. President Kim Dae-Jung from Republic of Korea attended the Openning
Ceremony and had congratulatory Remarks.

ASOCIO is the international representative body of the IT industry in the
Asian-Oceanian region. It was established on June 4, 1984 to promote, encourage
and foster trade between the various members and to develop the computing
industry in the Asian and Oceanian region. ASOCIO has been instrumental in
providing linkages to the IT companies of its member countries. Its General
Assembly and Symposium is a forum for participants to exchange information,
develop closer relationships and identify new business opportunities. Today,
membership of ASOCIO stands at 10 full members and 5 associate members
representing a total of 15 countries in the region and 5 guest members from
North America and Europe.
