An opening ceremony of Turkey-Korea ICT Cooperation Center was held in Ankara on March 20, 2007. On the Korean side, Mr. Young-Hwan Yoo, the vice Minister of Information and Communication(MIC), Mr. Chang-Kon Kim, the president of NIA, Mr. Chang-yeop Kim. Korean Ambassador in Turkey participated the ceremony. Also on the Turkish side, Mr. Ibrahim Sahin, Undersecretary of Ministry of Transport(MoT), Dr. Osman DUR, the president of Turksat attended the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the center.







The center was established based on the signed MOU on April, 2005 for the establishment and operation of the center between MIC and MoT. MIC designated the National Information Society Agency for an operating organization of the Korean party. On the Turksish side, Turksat was appointed as an operating organization through the agreement between both countries. Turksat is the only satellite operator company in Turkey and carries out the projects such as e-Government and Broadband internet.



In the opening ceremony, Mr. Chang-Kon Kim made a welcome remark for the participants saying that opening of the center will be the beginning of a new chapter in the cooperation between both countries. Following the congratulatory remarks by Young-hwan Yoo, Ribbon cutting and plate-hanging ceremony were held.



During the ceremony, the president of NIA and Dr. Osman DUR, the president of Turksat signed the collaboration arrangement for the establishment and operation of the center. According to the arrangement, the center will operate until December, 2009 to enhance bilateral ICT cooperation between Turkey and Korea. The center will carry out pilot projects, IT consultation, and seminars in the ICT field.
