World Bank Delegation, visit NIA on a Informitization Benchmarking Tour
Delegates from Ethiopia, India and World bank had a chance to visit Korea and benchmark its success stories from June 25 to 27. The delegates participated the '2007 Informitization Seminar' hosted by National Information Society Agency(NIA) and visited many IT organizations and businesses including the Public Procurement Office and Samsung Electronics.
The Ethiopian Delegation comprising of government officials was headed by Michael Debretesion, the director general of Ethiopian ICT Development Agency. Syedain Abbasi, the Director of Department of Information Technology in India and the consultants from World bank including Deepak Bhatia, the manager of e-Government Practice Team also accompanied the delegation.
The delegates were invited to '2007 Informatization Seminar' which was hosted by NIA on June 25 and had a chance to listen the success factors of Korean ICT development and the lessons learned as well. The seminar was participated by each expert from NIA in areas of broadband, interoperability, and e-Government and opened a floor for active discussion between the delegation and NIA.
Chang-Kon Kim, the president of the NIA, at the gala dinner welcomed the delegates and asked them to continue their work to strengthen cooperation among Korea, India and Ethiopia. He also said that ICT is a 'blue ocean' with much potential to develop national economy and expressed his hope that this visit would become a bride to further cooperation among NIA, World bank, Ethiopia and India.
