The National Information Society Agency(NIA)’s e-Government Project Management earned Capability Maturity Model IntegrationR (CMMIR) Maturity Level 5 for the first time, becoming the first organization in Korea to achieve this level under version 1.2. Version 1.2 is the newest and the most rigorous version of the CMMIR model and appraisal method. Established by Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute, CMMIR measures the effectiveness of an organization management process maturity. It is used to guide process improvement of projects, divisions, or an entire organization.

There are 6 CMMIR Maturity Levels from 0 to 5. Level 5 is the highest rating an organization can achieve and is indicative of process implementation that improves quality. There are only about 20 organizations that have achieved CMMIR Maturity Level 5 worldwide. “Achievement of Maturity Level 5 is the result of continuous efforts to innovate management of Korea’s e-Government projects” said NIA’s President Chang Kon Kim.

NIA believes this achievement validates its capability as a world-class e-Government Project Management agency, and hopes to continue efforts in providing best project management and work performance.
