On March 31st, the Canadian Embassy along with the Seoul Plaza Hotel hosted an Executive Business Event & Luncheon with the intention of exploring trade and investment, business partnering, R&D, and co-operation opportunities between Seoul and the Greater Toronto Area, Canada.
Through the GTMA (Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance), Dr. Jeongwon Yoon was invited as one of the keynote speakers at this event. After arriving at the Canadian Embassy, Dr. Yoon gave his presentation to the Canadian delegation that was made up of business leaders and mayors from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Dr. Yoon’s presentation dealt with how NIA supports Korea’s success as a knowledge economy and particularly how NIA works with SMEs to support Korea’s ICT industry. Dr. Yoon’s presentation was met with much interest from the Canadian delegation and as a result, many questions and comments were directed his way after his talk. Since this trade mission was from Canada and represented the GTA, the delegation took a keen interest in Korea’s successful ICT industry and the possible trade or business projects that could be worked out between Canada and Korea in the future.
After the keynote presentation, Dr. Yoon was presented with a small Canadian gift package given to him as a token of the Canadian delegation’s appreciation for his interesting presentation. A luncheon was then held at the Seoul Plaza Hotel where the GTMA (Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance) introduced their organization and detailed projects and avenues that organizations from Korea might get involved with in order to take advantage of all the benefits that this growing region within Canada provides.
