Starting back in March and continuing into the better part of April – for a period of 6 weeks, NIA has been taking part in sending members to Colombia to participate and share Korea’s e-government best practices with Colombian government officials.

As part of celebrating the “50th Anniversary of Friendship Between Korea-Colombia,” NIA with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided in-depth training in the “Colombia e-Capacity Building” as part of “Technical Cooperation for Supporting the Execution of the ICT National Plan” of the Colombian government.

The program was for 6 weeks in duration with the purpose of sharing NIA/Korea’s knowledge and experience on different e-government issues as well as helping Colombia advance in the construction for an efficient and pertinent e-government strategy for Colombia.

Weekly topics included: Understanding of the Korean e-government Strategy, ICT Governance, ICT Infrastructure and Platform Technologies, Korea e-Government successful cases and Korea e-Government Best Practices. Overall, the program was well received by the Colombian counterparts as between 25-35 Colombian officials regularly took part in the program over the 6 weeks. Officials were from a broad spectrum of positions including academia (universities and research institutes), government ministries (Communications, Transportation, Social Protection, Government Online), Radio/TV Office and General Attorney’s Office, etc…

In conclusion, the on-site training program in Bogota, Colombia proved to help introduce new technologies and concepts used in Korea for the fast evolving ICT sector as well as building up Colombian public officers’ capacity for applying a wide range of technological concepts to Colombia’s growing e-government projects.
