A delegation led by Kazakhstan || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Vice Minister of Communication and Information visited NIA on November 15th and held a meeting with NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim and other NIA officials.
NIA President Seang-Tae Kim warmly welcomed the Vice Minister and the 7-member delegation to NIA and mentioned that ICT cooperation could also follow in the footsteps of other industrial cooperation between the 2 countries as Koreas just strengthened the strategic alliance with Kazakhstan by signing a MOU to construct a power plant in Astana, Kazakhstan in the near future.
The meeting which lasted a couple of hours delved into such topics as IT standards, information security, digital certificates and public key infrastructure (PKI). President Kim led discussions about Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s IT development policy, e-government construction and exchange of humane resource capital through IT cooperation centers. Other presentations during the meeting focused on NIA global activities, e-government services and network infrastructure development.
The Vice Minister took a keen interest in information security and in particular digital certificates and PKI as they are trying to establish a certification authority in Kazakhstan so this was of particular interest as well.
The meeting wrapped up with a promise to keep communication ties open between government officials in Kazakhstand and Korea so that ICT and e-government cooperation can be further enhanced in the future.
