Mexican Federal Communications Commissioner Visits NIA

On December 3rd. Mexico || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Federal Communications Commissioner visited NIA and had a meeting with NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim and other officials from NIA in order to realize and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.



Commissioner, Mony de Swaan was in Korea to attend e-Smart World Project Plaza and took a keen interest in DMB deployment while attending that event. His visit to NIA included discussions on recent IT trends in Korea, such as broadband acting as a blueprint for an information society. Monitoring of broadband speeds and bandwidth also piqued the commissioner || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s interest and NIA said that they would share some of their monitoring services with Mexico in the near future.



NIA President Seang-Tae Kim discussed some of Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s success factors and the implantation strategies that have been implemented for the future knowledge-based infrastructure and introduced informatization policies that may serve as collaboration projects between the two countries in the near future. Commissioner Mony de Swan went on to add that Korea has shown the way in e-government through it || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s top ranking in the most recent UN e-readiness ranking and it || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s excellent broadband reputation and so Mexico is eager to benchmark and tailor similar programs and policies for the Mexican general public.



Discussions also touched on budget issues and future cooperation agreements between Mexico and Korea either through KCC or the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy.
