Korea’s IT Trade and Exports Jump Significantly

Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s IT industry has recorded a trade surplus of $78.2 billion in 2010 due to increased sales of semiconductors and flat screens the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) stated in January. It went on to add that Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s record figures were the result of the global economic recovery.



By region, exports to China, including Hong Kong, jumped 38.3 percent to $69.3 billion, while those to the United States, Japan and the European Union exceeded 10 percent.


Looking at the Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s export year-on-year figures, exports of IT-related products jumped 16.3 percent in January from a year earlier on strong global demand for semiconductors, displays and mobile phones. It shipped $12.83 billion worth of IT products abroad, marking the 15th month in a row that exports grew at a double-digit rate.
