Brunei’s Minister of Energy leads Government Delegation Visit to NIA

An official Government of Brunei delegation led by the Honorable Minister of Energy and Chairman of Brunei || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s e-Government Leadership Forum visited NIA for a meeting with NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim and NIA Vice President, Jung-hyub Kang. The meeting took place on February 11th, 2011.



The meeting was of very important as it served as a follow up to the MOU that was signed between Korea and Brunei in August 2010. That MOU was signed between the Prime Minister || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Office of Brunei and Ministry of Public Administration and Security, Republic of Korea with Cooperation in the Area of e-Government and is in line with one of the top priorities of Brunei || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s E-Government Strategic Plan of 2009-2014.



At that MOU signing back in August was Brunei || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Minister of Energy, at the Prime Minister || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri and he led this Bruneian government delegation || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s visit to NIA. From NIA, joining NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim and NIA Vice President, Jung-hyub Kang was Executive Director, Dong-seok Kang and Director, Jeongwon Yoon along with other NIA staff members.



Presentations and discussions focused on NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s background, roles/functions, as well as sharing experiences on success stories or lessons learned and challenges regarding e-Government initiatives and in providing citizen centric services. Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Green Growth Initiative and potential cooperation between NIA and Brunei E-Government National Centre (EGNC) or its counterparts in Brunei Darussalam were also broached during the meeting



NIA President Seang-Tae Kim mentioned that by combining the advanced technology of Korea and the rich resources of Brunei, this combination would provide more opportunities for future development between the two countries. Brunei || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Minister of Energy countered that indeed more opportunities would arise and he stressed

that IT experts were needed in Brunei in order to aid in environment-friendly policies and e-government development. The honorable minister stated that he would start the process to invite President Kim to Brunei to help in this regard.
