NIA President Meets with Honduran Minister of Science and Technology

The Honduran Minister of Science and Technology was in Seoul taking part in a Presidential Honduran delegate visit to Korea. This provided an opportunity for the Minister, Honorable Arturo Espinoza Ramon Guzman to meet with NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim in order to discuss IT cooperative projects that are in the process of being developed and closer economic ties particularly in the IT sector.


The meeting took place on February 21st at the Hyatt Hotel in Seoul as this was where the Honduran Presidential delegation was staying. The Minister expressed great interest in e-Government, particularly in e-services to the people (G2C) that would bring real tangible benefits to the people. The Minister mentioned that due to long waiting periods and the submission of multiple documents needed in order to receive administrative services, Hondurans think that civil offices are inefficient and provide very little benefit. ICT for hospital management (e-Health) was also mentioned as a priority service that could significantly benefit the people. Connectivity issues at Honduran tele-centers were also in need of experience possibly modeled after Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s own "Information Village" (Invil) experience and know-how. NIA President Kim discussed with the Minister about how NIA could provide technical assistance to Honduras with regards to their National ICT Development Plan.


 


In conclusion, their discussions also broached the subject of including the Ministry of Science and Technology in a MOU that soon will be signed between the Honduran government and Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS).
