The 3rd Annual NIA – SKKU Global Cooperation Internship Program Takes Place

For the third year in a row, a global internship cooperation program between NIA
and Sungkyunkwan University commenced in January and finished 4 weeks later in
February. In total, 16 international graduate students who are currently enrolled
and studying Sungkyunkwan University's Global Masters of Public Administration
program were assigned to a 4 week intern position in the Global Cooperation Division
of NIA.

An orientation session kicked things off on January 24th at NIA where NIA's
President - Seang-Tae Kim warmly welcomed the graduate student-interns and NIA
was introduced along with some time for introductions of both the students and
also mentors currently working at NIA who served as guides and assisted the
students during their post at NIA.


President Kim mentioned in his welcoming remarks that even though the period
of the internship was not long, it was still a very good opportunity to help
and discuss interests as well as their expertise with each other. President
Kim went on to add that everyone had the chance to learn from one another and
it would be a very good opportunity for a starting point to build up a working
and professional relationships with the students and their respective countries.


Some of the countries that the students were from included: Cameroon, Nepal,
Rwanda, Bangladesh, Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Peru and
Fiji. Many of the students hold prominent public service positions in their
respective countries.


The program, which is now in its 3rd year of existence once again, was a good
experience for everyone involved with everyone having the opportunity to learn
from on another. At the final session, 2 special awards were handed out to two
of the interns for their hard work and contributions. Receiving these awards
were; Mr. James Simiyu Wafula from Kenya and Ms. Souad Ayadi from Tunisia who
were presented their awards and congratulated by NIA President Seang-Tae Kim.
President Kim also presented certificate of completions to all the participates
at the close of the program.
