NIA President Makes Keynote Speech at Workshop for Global Collaboration between Smart Work Communities held in Lille, France

NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim attended the Workshop for Global Collaboration between Smart Work Communities in Lille, France on June 8, 2011. As head of the Korean delegation, NIA President Kim arrived on June 7th and first had a dedicated meeting with Pierre de Saintignon, the Vice Mayor of Lille. At this first meeting, President Kim shared Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s background on smart work as well as hearing the history behind smart work in Lille, France. Both emphasized the promotion of sharing experiences through bilateral cooperation and HR exchanges.



On June 8th, NIA President attended the Workshop for Global Collaboration between Smart Work Communities where he gave a keynote speech on Smart Work in Korea. The workshop || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s aim was to bring together communities that are leading in the field of Smart Work in order to exchange best practices, share policy frameworks and

business architectures, etc…In addition, want to share a larger vision to create a Global Smart Work Association. This association would be a platform that would bring communities advanced already in Smart Work strategies, their private sector counterparts as well as relevant NGOs and academia in order to exchange best practices,

and address technology standards for interoperability that allow for community-wide Smart Work environments for countries, regions and cities.



As mentioned, at this workshop, NIA president Kim made a keynote presentation that touched on the domestic background of Smart Work in Korea, the strategy for implementation where a human-centered society of smart work is being ushered in by acting as the primary platform for social integration that also encourages sustainable innovation.



Other attendees included high level representatives from European Smart Work communities and initiatives, including: Pascal Kaiser, President of Eurogreen IT in Belgium, Peter Oeberius Kapteijin, Director of W-Work, the Netherlands, Richard Collin, President of ClusterGreen of France and others from the private sector.


The Smart Work center in Lille, France was also discussed in-depth as a French case study as it used to be an old mill building that was turned into a Smart Work Center in 2008 with 110 IT companies using the premises, 1500 jobs and 40 incubator companies using the facility and the centerpiece for development. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the Smart Work Center in Lille in order to gain a better understanding and appreciation of its successful implementation.
