UAE e-Government Welcomes NIA Official to Discuss e-Government Cooperation

NIA Global Planning & Cooperation Director, Jeongwon Yoon was welcomed by Mohamed Ismaeel, Acting Director, of the UAE e-Government sector in Dubai, UAE in late May.



The purpose of the meeting was to benefit from the South Korean experience in setting up high standard e-Government system. The two parties discussed possible ways to establish collaboration and cooperation in matters relating to the development of e-Government within the United Arab Emirates.



Mohamed Ismaeel appreciated Dr. Yoon || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s helpful assistance and support in the effective transformation of the UAE Government || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s online services that can reach the public. He stated, South Korea has made landmark progress in the field of e-Government. To fulfill the ambitious vision of our leaders, we also aspire to build an e-Government

system that is not only high quality but also sustainable. We could gain expertise from South Korea in developing e-Government strategies and mechanisms for policy development, laws and general regulations.



Along with Mohamemd Ismaeel, the Acting Director of UAE e-Government was Ahmed Ismail, Chief Information Consultant, and Abd El Wahab Mostafa, Systems Analyst at Emirates e-Government who joined the meeting with Director Yoon from NIA. Their discussions delved into effective e-Government practices and infrastructure and

in addition, other developments in Information Technology and information security and integrity, and its applications in the field of e-Government. Director Yoon shared his experience in establishing the government information centers and the use of PIN code for every citizen for accessing all government services and financial transactions.



They also discussed signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on e-Government

that will aim to develop a constructive and strong cooperation in four specific areas: e-Government strategy and its applications, joint scientific research and development programs, exchange of visits and the transfer of expertise, and collaborative activities with the private sector related to e-Government.


The UAE e-Government has launched a portal government.ae that brings together all the electronic services of the federal and local governments. For functional purposes, the services have been categorized for residents, business people and prospective visitors to the country.
