Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) played host and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) organized the 2011 Digital Development Forum (DDF) that was held this year in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 30-31. High level government officials from not only Korea and the host - Indonesia but also 6 other

countries, including; the Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia, and so on plus more than 200 other government officials took part in the 2 day event. Indonesia || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s own Ministry of Information Communication Technology (MCIT) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), tasked and interested in building e-government, were actively involved in the event.



The Digital Development Forum (DDF) is a global network comprised of IT experts from both public and private sectors. It is designed to promote multilateral cooperation for national informatization and e-governance. Its aim is to create an international arena where the international community can share knowledge and experiences in order to build a more inclusive information society. The DDF supports both regional and international cooperation to improve access to information and communication infrastructure and technologies, share and exchange knowledge and experience, build human develop and utilize ICT applications and services, increase confidence and security in the use of ICTs and foster technology exchange and transfer. In sum, the DDF works to create an international community in which all nations can share knowledge and experiences that are vital to build an inclusive information society. Thus far, the Digital Development Forum has been organized through the National Information Society Agency since 1998, and has invited foreign IT professionals through training programs and accumulated more than 3,000 leading international DDF alumni participants.



Asian IT companies attended the discussion meetings as well as Korean companies like Samsung SDS, LG CNS, SK C&C and Lotte Data Communications and other IT companies. These companies were involved in B2B meetings with local companies in order to build some strong cooperation and collaboration with local IT companies

in the Asian region.


Opening remarks were made by Ministry of Public Administration and Security Vice Minister, Mr. Nam Seok Kim while DDF Welcoming remarks were made bySuryo B. Sulisto, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and Aswin Sasongko S, Director General of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The DDF was comprised of 3 different session with Session one focusing on the National e-Government Initiative, Session 2 focusing on International Cooperation on e-Government while Session 3 delved into Public-Private Partnerships. In all, 270 people took part in the 2-day event which was warmly received with much cooperative information shared with all those who took part.
