On May 27, 2011, the opening ceremony of the just established Vietnam-Korea IT Cooperation Center (ITCC) was held in Hanoi, Vietnam with many government officials from both Korea and Vietnam in attendance.
Based on the MOU between Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) of the Republic Korea, and the MOU between, the Authority of
IT Application (AITA) of MIC of Vietnam and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of MOPAS of Korea, two countries have recently strengthened bilateral relations in the field of Informatization.
Before the opening ceremony, a 2nd Vietnam-Korea Informatization Cooperative Committee Meeting was held. During this meeting, follow-up discussions took place based on the 1st meeting. After this meeting, the Deputy-Minister of MIC, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hong, opened the ceremony by welcoming the Korean delegation which was then followed by some brief remarks by the head of the Korean government delegation, Mr. Nam Seok Kim, Vice Minister of MOPAS.
The establishment and operation of the Vietnam-Korea ITCC is based in part on the MOU signed between MIC and MOPAS in August 2009 and the MOU between AITA and NIA, signed in June 2010. Both countries agreed to establish the Vietnam-Korea IT Cooperation Center (ITCC) through the letters between Deputy Minister of Information and Communication in the S.R of Vietnam and Vice Minister of Public Administration and Security in the Republic of Korea (December, 2010). The Vietnam-Korea ITCC will help found a Window for Cooperation that promises to promote
sustainable collaboration for national informatization for both countries.
The Vietnam-Korea ITCC || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s duration will be officially from June 1, 2011 until December 31, 2012 and is to be located on the MIC premises in Hanoi. The main functions of the ITCC will include: the provision of technical support and consultation necessary for IT development of Vietnam, developing and carrying out joint projects in the fields of IT, and the sharing of IT technology and experiences.
The ITCC will have one Korean official working at the ITCC full time for the duration of the Center and local staff from Vietnam will also be employed there in order to carry out functions and future projects on behalf of both Vietnam
and Korea.
