5th Mission to Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) in Kuwait Completed

A delegation made up of staff from NIA and the private sector took part in the

5th mission to Kuwait || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) in late

July, continuing the progress from previous missions earlier this year (4th Mission)

and the first 3 missions accomplished back in 2010. From NIA, Dr. Jeongwon Yoon,

Department Manager of the Global Planning Department and Gregory Pokorny, Principal

Manager from the Global Planning Department went there with 2 people from Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s

SK C&C , Kevin Kyung and Bangho Cho and in addition Professor Yong Beom Cho,

Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Konkuk University joined the mission to bring

the Korean delegation member total to five members.


For the Korean 5th Technical Advisory Team mission, much work carried over

from previous missions 3 and 4 that took place in January of 2011 and October

of 2010. In the 4th Advisory Mission that took place in January of this year,

a TOR for the National Security of Kuwait was completed from which interviews

with CAIT officers were conducted and the relevant documents in the areas for

consultations that were received by CAIT in order to finish the TOR for Kuwait

National System of Kuwait. Working from this TOR completed in the 4th Advisory

Mission, the mandate of the 5thmission was to incorporate a training component

at the request of CAIT where different topics would be covered that were related

to the different areas of the overall project and the TOR. The topics that were

covered in the training component included: (1) Computer Emergency Response

Team, (2) Business Continuity Plan / Disaster Recovery System, (3) Government

Integrated Data Center / e-Government Access Channels, (4) Security, (5) Terms

of Reference (TOR) terminology and (6) Korea e-Government History and Lessons

Learned. The training session component was a successful with some informative

lectures and information given to CAIT staff while working there at CAIT for
a period of 6 days.


 


The mission finished with a final meeting with members of CAIT that includedQusaiAlshatti,

Deputy Director General for Information Technology for CAIT as well as Kuwaiti/CAIT

members of CERT and the Korea delegation where all work done up to that point

in previous missions were examined. In addition, next steps for the near future

where a Steering Committee would take place later this year and a possible visit

by Vice Minister of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to coincide
with the upcoming 6th mission was also discussed.
