On July 7-8, 2011, NIA staff and officials from the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) took part in a National e-Government Workshop that was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
This National e-Government Workshop was a fine opportunity to share between Korean and Bangladeshi official in specific areas related to e-Government. The workshop opened with the Mr. Belal Hassan, from UNPOG staff making some opening remarks that mentioned how e-government could serve as a method or tool for capacity development within a country and serve the general population in a beneficial way. Bangladesh || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Minister of Science and Information and Communication Technology stated that Bangladesh was eager to learn how to implement various
e-government systems from Korea because of Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s No. 1 ranking in the most recent 2010 UN e-Government Index.
NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s own Executive Principal Ms. Moon Sil Choi made a presentation on Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s own e-government experience with it paving the way for good governance. Other topics discussed at this national workshop by members of the Korean delegation included, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Digital Signature, Advances in e-Procurement, Cyber-security and Internet Incident Responses and National Disaster Management Systems both in Korea and Bangladesh. These various topics are important because they are under the umbrella of the Digital Bangladesh 2020 National Strategy.
After the presentations and each of the sessions over the course of the two days, panel discussions took place with NIA Senior Manager, HyunjinByun taking part in the various panel discussions.
At the end of the 2-day workshop, future collaboration steps were discussed as closer ties had definitely been formed between the 2 countries || chr(39) || || chr(39) || officials and possible reciprocal visit to Korea by Bangladeshi public officials in charge of e-government was also proposed.
