NIA President Seang-Tae Kim Attends Future Network 2020 Forum

NIA President Seang Tae Kim recently took part in the Future Network Forum/Conference (FN2020 Forum)that opened at the Westin Chosun Hotel on July 12, 2011. Some of the discussions at this forum centered policies and direction regarding the evolution of the Future Network.


The forum started with opening remarks from NIA President Seang Tae Kim along with the co-chairmen/joint chairmen of the FN2020, President Jong RyeolSuh(Korean Internet Security Agency), ETRI President, Kim Heung Nam Kim (ETRI), and Yong Sup Shin, Commissioner of the Korea Communications Commission, as well as 200 other participants and experts from academia, research institutes and public organizations.




FN2020 Forum was launched back in 2009 with a mandate to postulate the approval of the annual business and budget planning in the IT sector with the forum being held three times so far.




In addition, in order to establish more competitive and strategic position of the Regular General Assembly and Future Network Forum, they have also established a forum so that government, similar organizations, telecommunications operators, network equipment manufacturers, etc…could also participate.




The contents of the forum were mainly focused on ① Future Network policy to discuss about future network frequency policy, strategy direction for internet development and ② suggesting directions for development of Future Network such as establishment of (GB) giga-Internet, optical transmission technology and smart network establishment based on contents etc…,③ Introduction on Smart Network Technologies of the future Internet technologies and standard trends, safe Internet for Safe IT-Life.


 


NIA President Kim, as the Chairman of the FN2020 Forum stated for emphasis that, Since Korea has earned the chance to launch the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018, an era of massive transformation in civilization will be

opened up so we need to imprint the Smart Korean image through the PyeongchangWinter Olympics to the world.
