The visit to NIA was organized by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) with a main purpose of the Nigerian delegation to find out and consult on specific strategies that are used in Korea and that could be tailored and used for economic development in Nigeria.
During the meeting, NIA Director Yoon briefly explained and introduction of NIA and its role as a guiding for over Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s IT history in the past 23 years. Dr. Jeongwon Yoon shared the different IT-related experiences that led to vast economic development in Korea and the rise of the IT industry over the past few decades.
The meeting was a very good opportunity to discuss at length the collaboration and cooperation process and how Nigeria could go and form a tie with NIA to develop and upgrade their own IT industry in order to bring about positive benefits to the citizens of Nigeria.
In particular, Nigerian officials were curious about the actual process of getting aid not only from Korea but how NIA could provide financial support in order to develop IT infrastructure in Nigeria. Discussions on costs and the duration needed in order to stabilize the IT industry in Nigeria as well as why the cost and process for getting aid from Korea was higher than let || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s say getting aid from China. Dr. Jeongwon Yoon mentioned that Korea has had a lot of experience over the years from building up their own IT industry that the products and services that Korea provides are high quality so therefore more reliable in the long run even though costs for products and services might seem higher than other countries || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || products and services.
The Nigerian delegation were very satisfied with the meeting and felt they gained much knowledge and insight due to Dr. Jeongwon Yoon || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s thorough explanations and answers to their inquiries. Dr. Jeongwon Yoon and the Nigerian delegation both hope for further exchanges between the two countries in the area of IT and e-Government and the Nigerian delegation also hoped that a deeper relationship between NIA and their delegation could be the seed that grows and leads to more mutual cooperation between Nigeria and Korea.
