| From October 12-14, NIA Vice President, Jung-Hyup Kang attended and presented as well as took part in discussions at the Asia FutureGov Summit held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia. The FutureGov Summit follows similar FutureGov events held throughout Asia during the year with this event || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s theme focusing on Forward Thinking and Asian Public Sector Reform in the Future. Some of the notable attendees at this year || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Summit included HaiyanQian, Director of the Public Administration and Development Management Division of UNDESA and Jane Treadwell, Senior Consultant, e-Government and Transformation at The World Bank. On October 12th, attendees took in a key note presentation before attendees broke off into interactive discussion tables and then workshops in the afternoon that included such themes as, E-Payment Strategies, Enterprise Content Management, etc…NIA Vice President Kang as one of the Korean delegation discussed civic participation in Korea and how expanding communication channels through online portals allow Koreans to take an active role in government and participate in public policy decision making. NIA Vice President Kang also took part in a panel discussion devoted to mobile e-Government where is elaborated on Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s mobile e-government initiatives that make civil inquiries and document issuance available at anytime and anywhere. Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s success cases in m-Government were also highlights and some of these included location-based services, traffic information services and tourist cultural information all available through various mobileservice delivery platforms. He also went on to stress the importance of information security and privacy as the proliferation of smart phones and m-government services continues to rise rapidly. After the 3-day event, many attendees including NIA Vice President Kang stated that the FutureGov Forum was a very unique and good opportunity to discuss, brainstorm and learn more from attendees from all over the Asia-Pacific region and looked forward to more discussions and initiatives in the future ![]() |
