NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim took part as an invited panelist at the ITU World Telecom event held at the ITU pavilion in Geneva, Switzerland from October 25-27, 2011.
The ITU World Telecom 2011 was a dynamic gathering bringing together players from across a diverse ecosystem to exchange knowledge views and to collaboratively build consensus and solutions to real world challenges. Some of the participants included heads of state and government, high-level executives, thought leaders, researchers and innovators to develop a manifesto for change, a series of
clear and practical recommendations to achieve the aim of connecting the world.
The program of the ITU World Telecom included discussions and debates covering key issues including social networking, emerging market innovation, cloud computing, monetizing the real-time web, etc.
NIA President was invited to take part in the Panel titled, "Collaboration: How are Public & Private Sector & NGO Aligned to Foster Next Generation City Life? (Stakeholders Perspective), which took place on October 26. During his own remarks to begin the panel off, NIA President Kim emphasized the
need for a knowledge-based infrastructure where the Government, citizens, NGOs could collaborate and share their knowledge and experiences openly, efficiently and in a more transparent way. President Kim || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s talk was successful for the audience that included a live broadcast over the Internet and which brought about questions through a Twitter feed and other Internet broadcasting channels.
NIA President Kim went on to add that a knowledge-based infrastructure is the foundation to deliver a Smart Society where people are able to create open innovation through citizens actively participating and using the infrastructure in an array of ways which will bring sustainable development and ultimately improve the quality of life throughout society.
