Korea IT Volunteers (KIV) Year-end Result Meeting Held at NIA

On December 13th, NIA hosted the 2011year-end Korea IT Volunteer (KIV) Report Meeting. NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim presided over the meeting and congratulated all the Korea IT Volunteers for their hard work and tireless efforts in helping developing countries in the area of IT and building and nurturing good relationships between Korea and the hosting KIV countries.



The meeting was attended by other developing country dignitaries including; Eugene SegoreKayihura, Rwanda Ambassador in Korea and Michel IdiaquezBaradat, Honduras Ambassador in Korea as well as Inha Engineering University Professor, Dong-Seok Jung. In total, there were around 150 people in attendance that

were affiliated with the KIV program this past year.



In 2011, Korea IT Volunteers were sent to 22 developing countries this past July and August to help with promotion of IT in the host country by educating citizens and aiding in IT capacity development in the countries.



NIA President, Seang-Tae Kim specifically remarked in his address to

the volunteers and everyone associated with the program that he was proud of their efforts to promote and educate those in the different countries in the area of IT and that this experience would help to gain real-world

experience that would serve them very well in their future. Executive Director of NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Global Cooperation Division, Jong SooJeon and Inha Professor, Dong Seok Jung both mentioned said that the program would help foster a global mindset for the young volunteers and they both expressed thanks to the Ambassadors for facilitating the program to take place in their respective countries.



During the past 11 years, under the World Friends Korea, a total of 4056 Korea IT Volunteers have been sent to and worked in 69 different countries around the world.
