This past January and February, two Bruneian delegations headed by both
the Brunei Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Communication and
other related government organizations, visited NIA to learn more about
advanced Korean e-government system and policy through a study tour. This
study tour about e-government was proceeding under the agreement consented
in the 1st Korea-Brunei IT Cooperative Committee that took place last
October, 2011.
In January, the first delegation from Brunei had seminars at NIA that
concentrated on various e-government topics such as; history of Korean
e-government, administrative information sharing, e-procurement, e-government
standard framework, etc…In February, the second delegation had seminars
on these topics as well as other such as Green IT policy, smart work project
and new strategy of Korean e-government and in addition also visited the
National Computing & Information Agency(NCIA- Government Information
Data Center), Public Procurement Service in Daejeon and Information Village
in Gyeonggi Province where they were able to see the operations and get
a real feel of various e-government applications and e-services at these
project sites.
Korea's Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) and Bruneian
Prime Minister's Office signed a bilateral MOU for the informatization
cooperation back in 2010. Last February 2011, it was agreed that there
was a necessity to enhance the cooperation of e-government and at the
Minister's Conference that took place soon after in April 2011, the Policy
Advisory Group was dispatched to Brunei in order to find the cooperative
projects.
In order to propel more detailed cooperative projects, both countries
have confirmed nine collaborative projects including Consulting Service
for the Brunei e-government and education program in the 1st Korea-Brunei
IT Cooperative Committee, October 2011. These collaborative projects have
been proceeding through various ongoing Working Group meetings between
both Korea and Brunei.
