A delegation from India || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s government visited Korea for a week-long study tour to learn in more detail about Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s e-government services. Their tour was organized by the UN Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) and included 5 days of meetings, lectures, site tours and demonstrations.
The delegation was made up of government officials from various government sectors across India including; Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture, e-Governance Department, National Citizen Registration, Department of School Education and the National Institute for Smart Government. Mr. Piyush Gupta from the National Institute for Smart Government was the delegation head and he thanks UNPOG and the NIA staff for the warm and kind welcome.
On the first day of the tour, meetings and visits to Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) and NIA filled the day with the visit to NIA coming on the afternoon of February 6th. During the meeting, WoonsukSuh, Executive Principal of NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Global Planning and Consulting Department first welcomed the Indian Government Delegation and then gave a brief introduction of NIA. After the brief introduction, Gregory Pokorny, Principal Manager of NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Global Planning and Consulting Department gave a presentation on Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s e-Government that looked at the history, services, problems and challenges as well as future of Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s e-government. The third presentation was done by Ms. Mina Son of NIA || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Global Planning and Consulting Department as she gave a very informative presentation on one of Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s e-government best practices - Information Village (INVIL). At the conclusion of the 3 presentations, there were many questions given to the NIA staff that delved deeper into various contents from the presentations. Some of these questions involved information from information data centers, taxation methods, information village set up and e-capacity building, education and training and so on.
From Tuesday - Friday (February 7 - 10), the delegation visited the Presidential Document Repository, Samsung SDS data center, the National Computing Information Agency (NCIA - Central Government Data Center), KIPO (Korea Intellectual Property Office), Deajeon City Hall, Korean Presidential Residence/Office (Blue House), National Forensic Service and Seoul Metro Operation Center among others.
Although the schedule was full, the Indian delegation appreciated all the site visits and the opportunity to learn firsthand Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s ICT and e-government experience.
