On March 2, 2012, NIA President made an official visit to Brunei at the request of Bruneian Minister of Energy. This visit built on the MOU that was signed between the Korean government and the Brunei government in 2010 on the Cooperation in the Area of e-Government and in line with one of the top priorities of the E-Government Strategic Plan of 2009-2014.



This visit by NIA President also follows a visit by Bruneian government officials to NIA in February of last year where they shared experiences on success stories or lessons learned and challenges regarding e-Government initiatives in providing citizen centric services.



Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Green Growth Initiative and potential cooperation between NIA and Brunei E-Government National Centre (EGNC) or its counterparts in Brunei Darussalam were also broached during the meeting as they were back in the meeting last year in Seoul.



NIA President Seang-Tae Kim mentioned that by combining the advanced technology of Korea and the rich resources of Brunei, this combination would provide more opportunities for future development between the two countries. In particular, || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || Green ICT || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || related initiatives were also other topics discussed. In his meeting with the Brunei Minister of Energy, Pehin Yasmin who is tasked with being in charge of Brunei || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s national informatization and e-government.



NIA President Kim talked about Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s National Green IT Strategy, the first step towards low carbon green growth that incorporates five year plan for Green Growth that represents a major attempt to fundamentally transform the country || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s growth paradigm, from quantitative growth to low-carbon, qualitative growth. He continued to add that Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s green growth strategy contains encouraging policy goals and targets to tackle climate change and enhance energy security, create new engines of growth through investment in environmental sectors, and develop ecological infrastructure.
