NIA President Participates in the Connect Arab Summit 2012 in Qatar

On March 5-6 in Doha, Qatar, NIA President Seang-Tae Kim, as one of the UNESCO-ITU Broadband Commissioners, participated in "The Connect Arab Summit 2012" which was organized by ITU in partnership with the League of Arab States and hosted by the State of Qatar || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology ictQatar. This event brought together top government leaders and ICT experts from the Arab region and beyond with all relevant stakeholders from the public and private sectors as well as, international and regional financing and development agencies to network face-to-face and forge new partnerships as well as commit towards a unified vision and strategy for the region in the coming years with an aim of collaboratively advancing prosperity by creating inclusive information societies. The partnership formed at the summit will positively contribute to the implementation of projects that will enhance the deployment of ICT networks, applications and services within the Arab region.



The Summit came about at the right time as the changes in the Arab region over the last couple of years have led to positive outcomes in harnessing ICTs to stimulate growth, alleviate poverty, and improve sustainable development. The main purpose of the Summit was to mobilize resources and engage all stake-holders to achieve the Summit goals, including: build the Arab region ICT highway, innovate and open the market to local entrepreneurs and empower all citizens of the Arab region through education, knowledge and access to information..



As an active member of the IT UNESCO Broadband Commission, NIA president, Seang-Tae Kim was there to offer support to the partners in the Arab region as well as to show many insightful Korean ICT and e-Government success cases for the region || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s ICT development and making the proper contacts through networking with relevant Arab stakeholders that will lead to more closer collaboration between Korea and the Middle East in the years to come.
