On June 18-19, NIA joined officials from KOTRA as well as Korea' s private sector and took part in the 2012 Korea ICT Roadshow that was held in Mexico City. Part of the roadshow included an exhibition that was held in parallel during the event.

During this 2012 Korea ICT Roadshow, NIA's Moon Sil Choi, Executive Principal of NIA' s Global e-Competency Development Center gave a presentation and partook in a discussion session that introduced Korea' s e-government as well as global cooperation initiatives that the Korean government is carrying out at this time.

This event was hosted by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Mexico. The location of the event was significant as Mexico' s ICT market is about $16 billion so with Brazil, Mexico is one of the 2 largest markets in Central and South America with a lot of potential for
growth in the near future. Throughout this exhibition, targeting Mexico' s main government organization' s procurement office, there were some good opportunities to introduce Korean e-government and ICT technologies to the local markets in Central and South America.

During the first day of the event, there was a Korea-Mexico IT Forum that was held that brought together representatives from the public sector and private sector ICT companies from Central and South America (e.g. Panama, Venezuela, etc.). During the first day of this Forum, Korea' s
new ICT trends, Mexico' s ICT trends as well as Korea' s e-government efforts and future plan were all showcased for the participants. It was also during this session where Carlos Viniegra, Head of the Digital Government Unit at the Ministry of Public Administration in Mexico gave a presentation on Mexico' s e-government advancements as well as holding active discussions with the attendees.

As mentioned, an exhibition was held in parallel where 11 Korean companies (Soltech, Somansa, IT Telecom and so on) operated exhibition booths in order to introduce and promote their Korean products and technology not only to Mexico but other Central and South American markets. A lot of interest arose with Mexican telecommunication mobile operators and satellite carriers and therefore, informative discussions took place to grow Korea' s overseas business in this region.
