NIA and KOICA Organize and Host an e-Government Policy Course for Morocco Government Officials

The National Information Society Agency (NIA) along with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) hosted a 3-week e-Government Policy Course for a Moroccan Government delegation between June 17 and July 7, 2012.



Since its establishment in 1991, KOICA has supported a variety of international cooperation programs for HRD, mainly in project-type aid form, focusing on education and vocational training with a concentration in building a foundation for Human Resource Development. The training and expertise-sharing programs aim to help partner countries build administrative and technical expertise in both the public and private sectors.



This particular course included 15 Moroccan government officials from various government sectors, ministries and organizations. Some of these included; Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Trade and New Technologies, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Equipment and Transport, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Civil Service and Administration, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labour. Their positions included; Engineers, Project Managers, Webmasters, etc…


Objectives of the 3-week training program were to include:


 


(i) Review
successful Korean e-Government programs management,


 


(ii) Identify the
current status of e-Government Morocco and to discuss lessons learned in Korea in order to further develop Moroccan e-Government Policy,


 


(iii)

Contribute to the improvement of Moroccan e-Government policy planning and its implementation.



During the 3 weeks the Moroccan government officials took part in the program, there were more than 8 lectures that dealt with Korean National Informatization, e-Government Strategy, e-Government System Audit, IT Security and so on. The delegation also went on various study visits and field trips that included visits to NIA, Gangnam, District Office, National Computing & Information Agency, Korea Minting & Security Printing Organization, LG CNS IT Center, Public Procurement Office, Information

Network Village and SK Telecom T-UM Exhibition Area. A 3-day field trip included going to the 2012 Expo held in Yeosu, a visit to Posco and Hyundai Motor Company. In addition, there was additional time set aside for the delegation to relax and experience Korean culture and society as they were able to go to the Korean Folk Village, explore some of Korea || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || || chr(39) || s palaces located in Seoul such as Gyeongbok Palace and take a Seoul City Tour.



At the end of the 3-week program, all participants prepared and submitted a report based on topics covered in the lectures as well as making a 15 minute presentation on their own country report. After the reports and presentations were all completed, NIA President Seang-Tae Kim handed out

Certificates of Completion to all the delegates and wished them well in their future activities as well as stating that he hoped they found the program informative and beneficial. The delegates responded with their own thanks for the organization of the program and indeed mentioned that the course was very helpful and beneficial to their work and organizations back in Morocco.
