Moldovan-Korean Information Access Center Opens in Chisinau in August

On August 14, 2012, the Moldovan-Korean Information Access Center (IAC) had its inauguration ceremony officially marking the opening of the IAC in Moldova' s capital, Chisinau. This project has been deployed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications with the support
of the National Information Society Agency (NIA).


 


The IAC includes a conference room equipped with audio/video equipment and a teleconference system, an IT training facility and High-speed Internet Public Access Office. Thus, ICT experts' community, as well as the public will be able to benefit from information technology, improve their IT
skills and widely use this as a cooperation ICT tool.


 


Ministry of ICT in Moldova was responsible for providing the facilities; meanwhile the Korean government financed the renovation work and purchase of equipment. Vlad Filat, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, who attended the inauguration event, expressed his sincere thanks to NIA
and the Korean government for providing assistance and mentioned that the Moldovan ICT sector has no boundaries and can now ensure a permanent and efficient communication process.


 


The Minister of ICT in Moldova, Pavel Filip, highlighted that this IAC not only provides the conditions for ICT training, but also represents a platform for sharing Korean experience - a definite world leader in

the ICT arena. He stated; We consider Korea as a model of economic progress based on the advantages of IT, having as well a competitive and dynamic regulatory framework. This model we are planning to apply in the Republic of Moldova, therefore, the Memorandum of Cooperation signed today
between the interested ministries of these two countries is an important step in achieving this goal.


 


The Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) was represented by Pil-Eon Seo who mentioned that Korea was more than willing to share their experience in the area of information society development. In addition, Mr. Woan-Sik Choi, Director of the Global Project Department was also

in attendance for the signing ceremony and grand opening. A Moldovan-Korean Committee was also created in order to provide a successful guideline for the newly established IAC, with a main task of focusing on identification of Center objectives, training and activity curricula, supervisory and

assessment measures.
