The 2nd Inauguration Opening of Information Assess Center (IAC) in Baku, Azerbaijan held in August

On August 17th, 2012, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) held the 2^nd inauguration ceremony of the Azerbaijan-Korea Information Access Center (IAC) in Baku, the Azerbaijan capital. The original IAC opened at Baku State University 4 years ago and following procedures, IACs are re-opened after a 4 year time period in order to update the hardware and equipment in the IAC facilities.

The upgraded Information Access Center in Baku provides access to Internet as well as includes an Internet lounge for local residents to use for ICT education purposes and a seminar room to host both domestic and international events. The Korean government has provided brand new computers, hardware as well as air conditioners and has done remodeling of the interior decor.

The 2^nd inauguration ceremony was attended by Seo Pil-eon, first Vice Minister of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) of Korea, Elmir Valizade, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, Abel Maharramov, Rector of Baku State University, as well as faculty, staff from Baku State University. There were approximately 100 people in attendance at the inauguration ceremony.

Vice Minister Seo and his Azerbaijan counterpart Vice Minister Elmir Valizade also held meetings concerning cooperation in the field of ICT in order to share experiences regarding informatization building experiences of Korea with Azerbaijan. “During the meeting it was stressed that “further development of ties between Azerbaijan and South Korea are needed and this IAC continues to development the ties between the two countries,” it was reported.
